Frank Yiannas is a renowned food safety leader and executive, food system futurist, author, professor, past president of the International Association of Food Protection, and advocate for consumers.
Most recently, he served under two different administrations as the Deputy Commissioner for Food Policy and Response at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), a position he held from 2018 to 2023, after spending 30 years in leadership roles with two industry
giants: Walmart and the Walt Disney Company.
After retiring from the FDA, Yiannas founded Smarter FY Solutions to help organizations address critical food safety and supply chain challenges. He also advises several prestigious companies, offering consultancy services to modernize compliance strategies and ensure clients meet regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Throughout his career, Frank has been recognized for his role in strengthening food safety standards in new and innovative ways, as well as building effective food safety management systems based on modern, science-based, and tech-enabled prevention principles.

Marsha McIntosh-Hamilton is the President of North America Supply at Diageo, a global leader in beverage alcohol with an impressive portfolio of over 200 brands, including Johnnie Walker, Crown Royal, Bulleit, Smirnoff, Cîroc, Ketel One, Captain Morgan, Baileys, Don Julio, Tanqueray, and Guinness .
In her current role, Marsha oversees the end-to-end supply chain for Diageo North America, which spans technical, planning, procurement, manufacturing, and distillation. This responsibility includes managing over 1,600 employees across 11 sites. Previously, as the Senior Vice President of Supply Strategy Planning & Logistics, she developed and led the supply chain strategy planning and coordination team across North America. Under her leadership, the North America Supply and Procurement team achieved significant productivity gains and improvements in average working capital . Marsha also played a pivotal role in establishing Diageo’s Supplier Diversity program in North America and globally, significantly increasing vendor diversity in the region .
Since joining Diageo in 1999, Marsha has held various roles with increasing responsibility in operations, logistics, procurement, and planning. She is currently based at Diageo’s Plainfield, Illinois site, the company’s only location worldwide that houses both a technical center and a state-of-the-art production facility . With over 25 years of experience in end-to-end supply chain management, Marsha is known for her thoughtful, ambitious, and passionate leadership. She excels at building highly engaged and high-performing teams .
As a senior leader, Marsha is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment where every individual feels valued for their unique contributions. She also participates in several leadership and development programs as a faculty member, mentoring and developing future leaders .

With more than 20 years of experience spanning Coca-Cola, Danone, and other major food companies, she ahs built a reputation for transforming organizations, strengthening compliance, and embedding quality as a value and driver of growth. An Oklahoma native and graduate of Oklahoma Christian University, Marlenea is passionate about advancing food safety and champions programs that safeguard consumers while enabling sustainable business growth.

Erik P. Mettler, M.P.A., M.P.H. is the Assistant Commissioner for Integrated Food Safety Systems in the FDA’s Human Foods Program (HFP), Office of Integrated Food Safety System Partnerships (OIFSSP). In this role, he leads a full range of HFP’s activities to strengthen an integrated food safety system, including the implementation of seamless partnerships and operations among federal, state, local, territorial, and tribal agencies. OIFSSP furthers the goal of advancing FDA’s public health mission through collaboration with strategic partners in industry, consumer groups, academia, foreign regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders by encouraging, cultivating, and fostering relationships and cooperative efforts.
Most recently, Mr. Mettler served as the Assistant Commissioner for Partnerships and Policy in the Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA), where he led several of ORA’s cross-cutting activities, including field operational policy, partnerships, implementation of new laws and regulations, and overall strategic planning and prioritization.
Other positions previously held by Mr. Mettler include Associate Commissioner for Foods and Veterinary Medicine in the Office of Foods and Veterinary Medicine (OFVM), Director of the Office of Resource Planning and Strategic Management in OFVM, and Deputy Director for Management and Deputy Executive Officer in the FDA’s Center for Tobacco Products. His years of experience at the FDA have provided him a broad perspective on public health, policy, and administrative management along with a keen awareness of critical issues at all levels of the agency.
Mr. Mettler earned a master’s degree in Public Health from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University in Georgia and a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of New Mexico.
